How to be Successful in Posting Jobs and Finding Quality Outsourced Workers
This is part 5 of 5 of our interview with Clare, an outsourced worker who has spent years working for people from abroad. In this article we asked Clare how she determines which job postings she wants to apply to. There are literally thousands of posting made each and every day and being able to successfully post a job the best way possible will improve the quality of outsourced worker that you get applying to your jobs. Here is Clare’s perspective…
The first thing I look for in any posted job is the employer’s work history and feedback. The first thing I check is whether the employer’s payment method has been verified by the website. This usually indicates that the employer is serious and chances of them not paying you are minimal. I also check feedback from previous postings. This is helpful in that you are at least able to know the type of person/company you will be dealing with based on previous feedback left by other outsourced workers. I also check the qualifications that the employer requires and compare to see if I meet the qualifications before applying for the job.
The second thing that attracts my attention in any job posting is the amount the employer is offering to pay for the particular project. I usually compare this to the load of work that is to be done. If the work requires a lot of maybe research sometimes finding material outside the internet then the pay should be able to reflect that because it means added expenses because you have to leave the house to go and look for materials needed.
The next thing I would look at is whether the payment is fixed or hourly. It is very important to know this so that you can prepare milestone or escrows for fixed jobs because hourly jobs payment is usually guaranteed. This guarantees payment for the outsourced worker if the job is successfully completed. If the employer agrees to pay milestone or escrow, it shows good faith on his/her part.
Duration of the project is also another thing that catches my attention. A long term project means you will be able to have steady flow of work which translates to a steady income. Short term projects can be done to boost your profile as well as increase your income. You can also be able to project the load of work you will have so that you do not take on too much work which might overwhelm you.
A project that is well detailed and even has examples is sure to catch my eye. This saves a lot of time both for the employer and the outsourced worker because the outsourced worker can be able to gauge if they can handle the project and if they cannot they won’t apply and the employer will not receive very many applications and interview very many people some of whom might not be able to handle the job.
Finally, the flexibility in working hours is another attraction since most of us are in different time zones. Some employers specifically ask you to work during their time zones which one can adjust whereas others allow you to work in your time zone as long as work is completed on time. This will help you plan out your schedule should you decide to work on the employer’s time zone so that it does not infer with your daily routine.
